What is the sim TCAP stack?

The sim TCAP stack emulates most of the behaviour of a real SS7 network. It is embedded in both the unified resource adaptor and the scenario simulator and can be used for testing without the need for a real TCAP stack. It is ideal to augment your testing capabilities. However it is not a substitute for testing on a real network.

Each ITU TCAP simulator instance (resource adaptor entity and CGIN Scenario Simulator) connects to other ITU TCAP simulator instances using a proprietory TCP-based protocol. The simulator uses a routing table to configure each simulator instance, so that they know where to route messages addressed to various pointcode/subsystem number pairs. A single pointcode/subsystem number pair may be routed to more than one simulator instance, allowing for operation within a Rhino cluster.

There is not need to run a separate 'backend simulator' anymore with CGIN as the Sim TCAP stacks connect to each other directly!
Read ITU TCAP Simulator Guide for more details about using the TCAP simulator
