1 Adding an instance

To add an instance to REM:

1 From the Rhino Instances page, click Add Instance.
A row of entry fields displays at the bottom of the page.

2 Type the Instance ID in the first field (free-form text).
3 Type one or more Addresses (one per line, in host:port format) in the second field.
4 If you want to store Usernames and Passwords for View and Admin credentials (recommended), enter them:
  • Type the username.
  • Click (none) below the password.
    An entry box displays.
    • Type the password.
    • To clear and optionally re-enter the password, click (clear).
  • Click (test) to make sure they work.
    A message at the bottom of the page indicates whether the username and password worked.
5 To Display this instance in REM's Rhino Elements Monitor, click the checkbox.
6 When you have entered all fields, click Apply.
A row for the new instance displays in the Rhino Instances page.
7 To upload a Server Trust Certificate:
  • Select the instance.
    Fields become editable, including the server certificate icon:
    (disabled until a new instance is saved).
  • Click the icon.
    An upload prompt displays.
  • Click Choose File to find and select the file. For:
  • For Rhino 2.1 and older, select the option to Restart REM.
    The restart feature is required for older versions (because of the way Java loads the keystore)... but should only be used if you've started REM with the bundled rem.sh script. If you've deployed REM in another web container, set the Java property rem.norestart to true, to prevent REM from trying to stop the JVM.

REM saves the certificate (and restarts if selected).

8 To close the Rhino Instances page, click Done.
