What are the requirements of a production system?

Operating System

It has also been successfully deployed on other versions of Linux (and Windows for the SDK version) — for help with other operating systems, please contact OpenCloud Sales.

Hardware

The general hardware requirements below are for a Rhino 2.3.1 production system, used for:

  • performance testing — to validate whether or not the combination of Rhino, resource adaptors and applications exceeds performance requirements
  • failure testing — to validate whether or not the combination of Rhino, resource adaptors and applications displays appropriate characteristics in failure conditions
  • and (ultimately) live deployment.
Hardware Minimum Recommended
Type of machine Current commodity hardware and CPUs
Number of machines
(one cluster node per machine)
1 2 or more
Number of CPU cores per machine 2 2 – 16
RAM requirements per machine 1 GB 2+ GB
Network interface Switched ethernet
Network interface requirements per machine 2 interfaces at 100MB
(one interface for cluster communication)
2 or more interfaces at 1GB
(one interface for cluster communication)
Performance measures and targets vary, based on the application. The requirements above are for configurations without load-generation hardware or SS7 connectivity.
For more information on how to configure Rhino as a two-node cluster please see the Rhino Administration and Deployment Guide, section 8 Cluster Membership.
